About Me I do lots of voice work (for commercials, cartoons and corporate clients) and sometimes, when I'm very lucky, tv and film. When I was in England I did mostly theatre. Now I'm in Canada I spend the majority of the time writing and performing stand-up. When I'm not making episodes of Talking Bollocks, that is. And that's me for you.

West End Girls this Thursday

Hey - you're back! Hooray!

Oh yes! Now that Farfl’s advanced training is over I can go back to doing my favourite monthly gig – West End Girls!

This is an all-girl stand-up gig with one token guy – this month it’s one of my favourite comics Bob Kerr. The line-up is terrific with top pros Martha O’Neill and Allyson Smith. Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait!

Here’s the link to the Facebook event for this gig. Poor John’s Cafe has terrific beer on tap, delicious cakes and coffee and the West End Girls’ signature cocktail the Creamy Beaver. Hope you can make it!

Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures starts Sunday!

This Sunday 10th January Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures premieres on HBO Canada at 8pm.

I was lucky enough to be able to watch the first episode on the Air Canada flight I came home from New York on before new year – it rocks! And I’m not just saying that ‘cos I’m in it…..

The pace is fast, the dialogue is fabulous and the acting is very strong. I highly recommend that you tune in. (And, for the record, I’m in episodes 1 and 3.) Go to the Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures website for interviews with the stars and the producer. And below is the trailer which I’m in very briefly!

The “C” Word

Here it is! This year’s StandUp Sisters benefit gig for Gilda’s Club.

After last year’s triumph we’re looking forward to even greater things at this year’s event. With a last minute guest appearance by Sandra Shamas the “C” word will sell out even more quickly than last year.

To avoid disappointment make sure you book your tickets by calling Hugh’s Room (416 531-6604) now!

This week’s gig

This week I’m doing a charity gig for the Ontario Breast Cancer Foundation.

“Nuthin’ But Skirts” is an all-female show happening this Thursday at 9pm at McVeigh’s pub 124 Church Street (at Lombard). Here’s the terrific line-up:

Sandra Battaglini
Carolyn Bennett
Deb DiGiovanni
Jo-Anna Downey
Sara Hennessey
Daniela Saioni
and me!

I always hate the week following New Year – why not come out and watch some funny birds come and make jokes for charity? It’s only $5. You know it makes sense.

Happy New Year!

Me and my fellow co-director of the children’s program at Klezkamp Sarah Gordon.

Hooray for 2010! I just got back from my yearly sojourn to upstate New York where I spend five days in a kosher hotel on Christmas week herding children. Well, it’s a bit more than that. I write a play with my husband that the kids from 5 to 11 perform at the end of the week. We rehearse it for one period out of four. The rest of the time is herding children.

Thanks so much to Sarah Gordon, my partner in crime and best Jew friend ever. She generously held the fort while I barfed for 10 1/2 hours straight with food poisoning. We shvitsed together. It was delicious.

2010 holds excitement in store – Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures begins this Sunday 10th January on HBO Canada and I’m in the trailer! I only say one line and I don’t have a lot to do in eposide 1, but check out episode 3 – it’s a doozy.

In a couple of week’s I’m performing in the StandUp Sisters‘ annual Gilda’s Club gig at Hugh’s Room along with Sandra Shamas and Jo-Anna Downey – more information imminently on this!

In Feburary I’m off to London, Ontario for Pride and Prejudice at the Grand Theatre. I’m looking forward to being back on stage again.

2009 wasn’t too horrid for me – looking forward to an even better 2010. Happy New Year, everyone!
