2011 – an amazing year!
2011 was an incredible year for me professionally for many reasons. At the beginning of January I was looking forward to returning to London, Ontario to play Madge Larrabee in the Grand Theatre‘s production of Sherlock Holmes, the Final Adventure. I was delighted to have something in the pipeline. In the second week of January my agent called and said that I had an audition for The Railway Children. Rehearsals would start two weeks after Sherlock Holmes closed. It was too good to be...

In June 2010 I auditioned for Marcia Kash for the part of Madge Larrabee, a scam-artist and member of Moriarty’s gang, in a theatrical adaptation of a couple of Conan Doyle’s books: A Scandal in Bohemia and The Final Problem. I liked Marcia right away – although she’s lived in Canada for many years she still has a very English sensibility and I enjoyed my audition with her thoroughly. I was very pleased when I booked the gig. It was lovely to be back at The Grand...

We’re into week two of rehearsals for Sherlock Holmes and I’m having a ball. The cast are all seasoned actors – most have worked at Stratford or the Shaw festival – which makes rehearsing an extremely pleasurable and fun time. The last few shows I’ve done have had a lot of recent graduates from drama school and it’s a very different experience working with older turns who have been around the block a few times. There’s also a fellow-Brit in the company...

I was contacted recently by Jennifer Duke who runs a Pride and Prejudice fan blog. She wanted to interview me about my experience of working on Pride and Prejudice at the Grand. She asked really great questions. Here are my answers: Are you a fan of Pride and Prejudice? Yes. Absolutely. I first read it when I was 15 years old for my English “O” level exam and remember throwing the book across the room when I got to the part where Charlotte Lucas marries Mr. Collins. I was really cross with...
Read MorePride and Prejudice
I was thrilled when I landed the part of Charlotte Lucas in the Grand’s production of Pride and Prejudice. I loved the novel as a teenager, but remember throwing the book across the room when I read that Charlotte was to be married to the odious Mr. Collins. As a sixteen-year-old it was too horrific an idea to have to marry such a loathesome creature because the alternative was future destitution. Luckily for me my Mr. Collins was the fabulous actor Alden Adair who was a joy to work with....

I am absolutely thrilled to tell you that I will be appearing in the Grand Theatre’s 2010 production of Pride and Prejudice in London, Ontario. I auditioned for the part of Charlotte with the Artistic Director Susan Ferley last week. I’d re-read the novel which I studied when I was sixteen and remembered how cross Charlotte made me when I was a hormone-riddled teenager. She’s Elizabeth’s best friend and extremely pragmatic – she marries the pompous vicar Mr....
