The StandUp Sisters raise another $10k for Gilda’s Club Toronto
We did it again! I am delighted to announce that the StandUp Sisters again managed to raise $10,000 for Gilda’s Club Toronto at our annual fundraiser, this year entitled That’s What She Said. It was a stellar line-up – Laurie Elliott was an incredible host and Nikki Payne killed it as the headliner. The legendary Sandra Shamas and the StandUp Sisters‘ teacher Dawn Whitwell were fabulous guest stars. The StandUp Sisters shone – Muniza Rauf, Rhiannon Archer, Daniela...

On Tuesday night I did another charity fundraiser – this time in aid of Scarborough Women’s Centre. It was organized by the fabulous Elaine “handy” Dandy whom I’ve known almost the whole time I’ve been doing stand-up. Banker by day, comic by night, Elaine is a real mover and a shaker who busts her balls to organize events and get out there to perform, despite having a (more than) 9 to 5 job. I really take my hat off to her. I love Absolute Comedy as a room...

Here it is! This year’s StandUp Sisters benefit gig for Gilda’s Club. After last year’s triumph we’re looking forward to even greater things at this year’s event. With a last minute guest appearance by Sandra Shamas the “C” word will sell out even more quickly than last year. To avoid disappointment make sure you book your tickets by calling Hugh’s Room (416 531-6604)...

I always hate the week following New Year – why not come out and watch some funny birds come and make jokes for charity?...

Today the StandUp Sisters had our photo shoot for the poster for our 2010 Gilda’s Club benefit gig: The C Word. Last year’s gig raised almost $7,500 for Gilda’s Club – this year we want to raise even more. I took my dog Farfl with me and she ended up being in the shots! We were lucky enough to have legend Cylla von Tiedemann as our photographer – and we were joined by our headliner Jo-Anna Downey. I can’t wait to see how the pictures turn out. Mark your...

Today Farfl and I ran for the cure. Well, strolled. Well, I had to carry Farfl a lot of the way because there were thousands and thousands of people. In the end I raised $1,001 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored me. And thanks to the other comics that ran or walked today as part of our team – dubbed the “Hungover Stumble for the Cure” we raised over $4,000. And we had a lot of fun doing...
