Gigs this week
As soon as I got my 2 weeks’ notice on Railway Children I started booking gigs…. I have three this week! Here’s what’s happening: Tomorrow night I’m competing in the Brantford Comedy Festival Rising Stars qualifying event. I came second last year but I haven’t done any stand-up at all since our Gilda’s Club benefit in January, so we’ll see how that goes. On Saturday I’m going back to one of my favourite rooms in Toronto – Poor...

Daniela Saioni, StandUp Sister and Humber graduate, gets a shout out from the Humber College journalism program laboratory newspaper for her work in creating one of my favourite chick-centric stand-up rooms in the city of Toronto. I found that there were a lot of programmed shows and a lot of open mics, but not a lot of them were programming women…I have a token male on for two reasons – not only because I’m making fun of the way it is in clubs but I also want them to know what it...

We did it again! I am delighted to announce that the StandUp Sisters again managed to raise $10,000 for Gilda’s Club Toronto at our annual fundraiser, this year entitled That’s What She Said. It was a stellar line-up – Laurie Elliott was an incredible host and Nikki Payne killed it as the headliner. The legendary Sandra Shamas and the StandUp Sisters‘ teacher Dawn Whitwell were fabulous guest stars. The StandUp Sisters shone – Muniza Rauf, Rhiannon Archer, Daniela...

Got my hair cut. Wrote a new set about it. Wanna hear it? Sure! West End Girls is a monthly show in Toronto’s East End – it’s an all-girl show except for one token boy comic each month. Daniela Saioni is the producer and hosted this edition of the show. She introduces me at the beginning. This set was recorded at West End Girls, Poor John’s Cafe in Toronto on Thursday December 9th 2010. There are swears and sexual references, so don’t say I didn’t warn...

So you’ve seen those cartoons from xtranormal, right? I’ve been wanting to do one for ages. Just didn’t have time to write anything. And then it hit me – why not just do one of my stand-up sets? Wouldn’t that be hilarious coming out of the mouth of a cutesy cartoon character? So I went to xtranormal’s website and chose a character (I was a bit miffed that you have to pay for a female character – what gives, xtranormal?). I decided to keep the default...
