I hit my target weight!

I hit my target weight!

I did it! I cotton-pickin’ well did it! I got on the scales this morning and, as if by magic, I discovered I have reached my target weight of 125lbs. I can’t tell you how happy I am about that – thanks to Anthony Punshon‘s amazingly easy eating and workout plan in six weeks I lost 12lbs and since then I’ve managed to whittle off another pound with only one workout a week, daily walks and sensible eating. And I haven’t lived like a monk, either! I’ve...

Back in the studio…

Back in the studio…

It’s been a couple of years since I recorded a radio commercial. It felt good to be back in the studio. I love working at Pirate Radio. It was there that I recorded the Philips Body Groom series that swept the board at the Crystal Awards. Those commercials were brilliantly written – a series of descriptions of home improvements that stood in for reasons why manscaping can make your johnson look bigger. All in a chirpy, Mary Poppins voice. We laughed our asses off in the studio. I...

2011 – an amazing year!

2011 was an incredible year for me professionally for many reasons. At the beginning of January I was looking forward to returning to London, Ontario to play Madge Larrabee in the Grand Theatre‘s production of Sherlock Holmes, the Final Adventure. I was delighted to have something in the pipeline. In the second week of January my agent called and said that I had an audition for The Railway Children. Rehearsals would start two weeks after Sherlock Holmes closed. It was too good to be...

soulOtheatre recital: The Tale of the Little Princess

Twice a week for five weeks we met together and shared our stories. Six fabulous women plus the most incredible of them all: Tracey Erin Smith. Quite by chance at the beginning of November I happened to see Muniza Rauf-Miller’s post on Facebook, saying that there was one spot left in Tracey Erin Smith’s one-person show class at Second City. My gut told me I had to do it. My bank balance disagreed. It’s been an up-and-down year for the Wexes financially. Although The Railway...

Day 14 – thank goodness for the golden arches

Don’t worry, Anthony. I didn’t throw back a Big Mac and fries. But I did book a job. I’ve been in a bit of slump recently because I haven’t really done very much since The Railway Children finished. But today I was finally confirmed on a new McDonald’s web series about the McCafe. I’m over the moon! I auditioned for it a while back but my agent didn’t get confirmation that it was definitely going ahead until this morning. Boy, am I relieved. It just...

Day 9 – a case of the blahs

Day 9 – a case of the blahs

Wow. I’m a real misery guts at the moment. To be fair – it’s not related to the diet and exercise plan. It’s more to do with what’s going on in my life. As an award-winning actress and competition-winning comedian who has her own website business it’s a bit depressing to face the prospect of having to go back to temp work to keep a roof over our heads. Which is what’s going to happen if I don’t rustle up some clients over the weekend. I’m...

This week’s gig – it’s a doozie

This week’s gig – it’s a doozie

Wanna see Sandra Shamas (and me) for $10? Here’s how. West End Girls is a monthly all-female stand-up show (featuring one token boy) produced by Daniela Saioni and features many comics who trained, as I did, with Dawn Whitwell. The show normally takes place at Poor John’s Cafe in Toronto’s West End (hence the title of the show) but for the anniversary shows Daniela likes to take it up a notch and have a fancy location. This year we’re performing at The Royal Cinema with...

In the news again

The Brantford Comedy Festival is in the news again! This article appeared in Brant News today. And I get a mention – hooray! I dunno, all this media attention could go to a girl’s head. First The Sputnik and now Brant News – where will it end? I had a blast tonight opening for Tom Green at Chrysalids Theatre in Kitchener. The audience were very responsive and Tom is a super-nice guy. I can’t wait to do it again in Niagara Falls tomorrow night and on Saturday night in...
