Me and Richard "Daddy, my Daddy" Willis
All good things must come to an end. But I think the entire company wished this could have gone on longer.
Yesterday The Railway Children had its very last show at the Roundhouse Theatre in downtown Toronto. There was a packed house, a great performance, lots of tears and three parties to celebrate over 100 journeys to Oakworth.

Me as Ruth, the Cook. She was a bit of a madam.
It was a challenging show to be a part of in many ways – the long traverse stage meant a lot of running around for all members of the company, but especially Natasha Greenblatt, Kate Besworth and Harry Judge who played the children. Many of us suffered injuries, there were personal losses and simply coping with working in a tent which had no running water but plenty of critters took its toll.
But none of that was enough to stop us from wishing that The Railway Children run could have lasted just a little longer. The show was magical and I can honestly say this is the absolute best cast and crew I have ever had the privilege to work with. Thanks to Damian Cruden for putting together an incredible company, to the producers for fire-fighting in the tent and to everyone who helped make the last five months so memorable.
That was that summer. The summer we were The Railway Children.
