Facebook is a wonderful thing.
I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but for those of us who have emigrated or who have friends and family scattered across the world it is a wonderful tool for staying in touch and reconnecting.
Drama school feels like a long way in the past – it’s been fifteen years since I graduated from the Bristol Old Vic and I have many fond memories of my time there. So I was delighted when I found my old musical theatre teacher, Neil Rhoden, through Facebook and chuffed to bits when he started posting each year’s graduation pictures online. Above is my graduating year.
Out of those in the picture above some people I am still close friends with, others I have lost touch with down the years and a few I have recently found on Facebook. Only a few are still acting – many found the road too hard or not satisfying enough. I feel very blessed that I have managed to stay in the business and still love it as much today as when I first took the stage at age four to play Mary in my junior kindergarten version of “The Nativity”.
I know this post is a bit mushy, but I just wanted to express my gratitude to all of the friends, old and new, who have made my life in “this business we call show” so rewarding and fun.
