We did it – we raised even more money for Gilda’s Club this year!
The room was packed….the atmosphere was electric….and the comics didn’t disappoint.
I had never seen Sandra Shamas perform and I was blown away. I had agreed to follow her and I was beginning to regret my decision as the crowd went wild – she was just awesome. Hysterical. Natural. Charismatic. What the hell was I thinking?
Luckily everything went well – I got a great reaction from my charity muggers/gps shtick and was really pleased with my performance. I could sit back, relax and enjoy the other acts!
This year we used what we’d learned from last year’s event and had the majority of the raffle and the silent auction while dinner was served at Hugh’s Room. This made the evening run much more smoothly and didn’t detract from the energy of stand-up.
In the end we made just over $10,000 – not bad for an evening’s work!
Thanks to everyone involved, especially Cylla von Tiedemann for her photographic genius, Daniela Saioni for her producing skills and everyone who came out and gave so generously. And if you missed it – there’s always next year!
