<- Thanks to Karina Perez for this lovely photo of me taken at West End Girls.
This week marked my one-year anniversary of doing stand-up. What a year! Starting with my first ever performance at the Black Swan I had a horrible bomb at the Diesel Playhouse (I recently got the CD recording from XM Radio and although the performance isn’t terrible I can hear where they put in canned laughter), helped raise almost $7,500 for Gilda’s Club, came third in the Toronto Comedy Brawl competition this summer and celebrated my first anniversary with the first in a new series of all-girl comedy gigs called West End Girls with a bunch of comics I graduated with from Dawn Whitwell’s stand-up class.
Along the way I’ve performed at Yuk Yuk’s, Absolute Comedy and been in Stand-Up Showdown twice. I’ve been on at most of the open mikes across the city and this weekend I have my first paid gig, thanks to Jay Vegas.
It’s been a great ride. Recently I’ve felt a bit ambivalent about it, but I know that’s just because I haven’t written any new material recently. What with my husband’s new book coming out and my kid starting high school, it’s been crazy in our house. I know I just need to put aside the time and develop all the ideas in my little black book.
So what does this year hold? Who knows. I’m just going to keep on writing and performing and see where this stuff can take me creatively. Watch this space…..

Hey Clare! That’s pretty much how my hair is when it’s this short and I don’t straighten it. Hair twins!
