I’m doing a stand-up course!

Having seen my gorgeous pal Daniela Saioni in her stand-up graduation show at Second City on Sunday I am about to sign up for the course!

Run by Dawn Whitwell, this seven-week class is running care of Bad Dog Theatre. After six months of not doing anything in front of a live audience, my inner performing monkey is starting to act up. I’ve been writing a lot of what I think will eventually be a novel over the last few weeks, but I’m hoping some of it could be turned into stand-up.

I meet with a writer friend of mine, Andrea Mitchell, once a week and she said that when she writes she never quite knows where it’s going to end up – stand-up, book, show etc. – she just writes and decides later. I like the unconstrained feeling of that since you can go in any direction without worrying too much what the end product will be.

I’m feeling super-creative right now and just want to get out there and perform. I’m not sure how this will take shape in the coming months, but it just feels good to be writing and knowing I’ll be performing again soon.
