Yesterday I spent seven hours in the company of two very clever and creative gentlemen by the name of the Shehori Brothers. They run a publicity company called Sweat Equity which was born out of a need to understand how to promote themselves and their friends in their artistic endeavours. (more…)
On Thursday night the Stand Up Sisters did a gig for Gilda’s Club members.

Laughter for Life week celebrated Gilda Radner’s birthday and included various events for members, their friends and families, and donors. (more…)

Hooray! This coming Tuesday (23rd June) I will be competing in my second Stand-Up Showdown. I came second the last time I was asked to be in the show.
It’s at 8 o’clock at the Comedy Bar which is on Bloor at Ossington. 8 comics compete. There are 3 topics – all the competitors do a 2 minute set on the first topic (self-help books). Then 4 go through to the second round to do 3 minutes on the next topic (tribute bands). Only 2 survive to the final – 4 minutes on the last topic (camping). It has to be all new material. The judge, Mark Forward, is harsh but fair. The host, Craig Brown, is affable and hilarious.
I hope you can join me – I had a blast at the last one and always enjoy attending. Plus it forces me to write 9 minutes of new material in a week. Hurrah!
Don’t forget you can always check on where I’ll be playing next on the upcoming appearances page of this website.
Update – I got through to the second round (along with Martha O’Neill, Nile Seguin and Samuel Yen) and Mark Forward hated our Tribute Band material so much he brought Bob Banks and Greg Cochrane back from the first round to go through to the final. Greg did a fantastic song for his Camping set and stole the show! Hilarious.
It’s time for another episode of Talking Bollocks!
This week, Josh Rachlis and I discuss marriage – both Jewish and otherwise. I particularly like the way Josh ignores all of Farfl’s advances and becomes quite serious about how depressing it is when an ex-girlfriend announces she’s getting married. As usual, I just bust his balls for no other reason than because I can. Go to this part of the Talking Bollocks page of the website to view the episode.
When you go out to see a mate’s band, you don’t expect them to get you to go up on stage and do a turn.
But that’s just what happened to me this evening at the Free Times Cafe. My dear friend Pelayo Matute was performing with his excellent a capella trio Kirsten Sandwich and since Pelayo has been such a mentsh and been to loads of my gigs I was very excited to be able to return the favour.
However, because my dog Farfl had just been spayed three days ago I wasn’t sure until the last minute if I would be able to make it. (more…)
This week – Jews!
Yes, that’s right – on this episode I talk to Josh about what it’s like to be Jewish. As usual, I give him a hard time, but still he comes back for more!
Thanks to our audient Jocelyn for being in the room and laughing loudly enough to be heard on our tiny camera. Woot!
Yes – I did warn you I would be on it. And here it is.
My edition of Todd Van Allen’s podcast – where I talk a lot about my husband, some about voice work and I seem to swear a lot. At least that’s the comment my Mum left.
I strongly suggest you subscribe to Todd’s podcast if you’re interested in comedy – he has great guests and I always enjoy listening to each episode.
To listen to my episode go to this page of Todd’s website. And check out the lovely photo producer Darcy took of me above – Todd described my hair as looking like a 1940s housewife. Nice.
We’re doing it again for charity!

The Stand Up For Your Sisters gang is pleased and proud to report that we are once again doing a gig for Gilda’s Club Toronto.
Laughter for Life Night takes place at 6.30pm on Thursday 16th June at the Clubhouse in Toronto and I will be doing my first ten minute set – exciting! I’m still working out which jokes I want to do and in what order – I can’t wait!
Also on the bill is my friend and teacher Dawn Whitwell – I haven’t seen her work for a while, so it’ll be nice to catch up with her material.
Once just wasn’t enough.
We had such fun the first time that right away we recorded another podcast – this time with Farfl the Wonderdog sitting on Todd’s lap. Will it put Todd off? Will Josh get a word in edgeways? How many times will I laugh like Ricky Gervais? You’ll just have to blimmin’ well watch to find out.
